A word from Betsy Hedberg, Director of Everyone Has A Story:

This is my grandmother. I love this picture because she looks ready to talk, as if she’s just welcomed me to her lovely home in California and has a funny story to tell...perhaps about a family of hummingbirds that have taken up residence in her backyard, or maybe about the time she and my grandfather vacationed in a houseboat on the Mississippi River. I can imagine what she might have wanted to say in this picture, but I will never know because she’s no longer around to ask.

Sadly, like many people navigating through this busy world of commitments to work, school, friends, family, pets, houses, cars, etc., I never got a chance to record my grandmother’s voice. Now, of course, I would give quite a lot for the opportunity to hear her speak about her life and memories.

Similarly, my husband and I wish we'd taken the time to record our reflections, observations, and stories at the time of our wedding. We'd now have a wonderful recorded treasure to remind us of how we felt and what was going on in our lives at that time.

I started my personal history business, Everyone Has A Story, to help other people keep their memories and stories, and those of their loved ones, alive. I truly believe that everyone has a story to tell, whether they know it or not. Many people, when asked to talk about their lives, are initially a little hesitant. "My life has been so ordinary," "I don’t know what I’d say," or "I can’t remember much" are common concerns. But with a little supportive encouragement, those people begin to recount people, places, and events from throughout their lives – all of it fascinating and immensely meaningful.

I encourage you to inquire as to the services I can provide and to see how I can help you record your or your loved one’s stories!
